Eclectic Band News: Cheesecake, A Contest, and The Big Easy

Just when you think the February rush is over, the madness of March marches in!

Here’s a quick update of current band happenings . . .

Solo and Ensemble Contest

LZHS once more hosted its own Solo and Ensemble contest on Monday, 3/19, giving Band, Orchestra, and Choir students the opportunity to play before top-tier musical mentors and to earn ratings based on their performances. Musical talent abounded!

Coffee and Cheesecake Sale

Did you know that your band child will be taste-testing cheesecake at school on Thursday? How bad can that be? And then later that evening, they should be coming home with sales materials. If they don’t offer these materials up, please ask them about them. The cheesecake and coffee sale begins on 3/22 and concludes on 4/20. It’s a great way to earn money for your child’s band account and makes a wonderful gift for Mother’s Day!

The Big Easy

Immediately after school on Friday, Jazz Band members, teachers, and chaperones will be climbing into buses to begin their trek down south to New Orleans for spring break. Once there, they’ll play and listen to soulful jazz, embark on a swamp tour, lend a helping hand to those in need, and eat way too many bowls of delicious shrimp gumbo, po’ boys, and powdery-sweet beignets.

Yum!

Have fun!
