Summer Band Camps
LZHS Band Camp at Carthage College
The LZHS Summer Band Camp usually takes place in August at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. For those of you unfamiliar with Carthage, it’s a lovely little campus just over the border on the Lake Michigan shore. All band members, including incoming freshman, practice their marching maneuvers during the day, and then sleep in the dorms overnight. It is also a great opportunity to get to know other band members and “band building” time. On Friday, parents came to watch the band perform, and then take their students home with them. The band learns a lot about marching and gets prepared for a great marching band season.
Incoming 6th – 8th Grade Summer Band Camp
Interested incoming 6th – 8th graders will be attending summer band camp at LZHS in June. Volunteers from the high school band will help them with the music and guide them during the camp. This is a great way to keep students practicing over the summer and learning more about music and their instrument. A mini concert for parents is given on the last day of band camp.
